I help students become confident, independent thinkers, whether that means mastering a history course, writing essays that actually say something, or finally making sense of a subject that hasn't clicked yet.
I spent nearly a decade teaching at three universities (Northwest Missouri State, Miami University, and Ohio State), working with students from high schoolers through PhD candidates. I've taught history, philosophy, Russian language, and writing at every level from introductory to advanced. I also spent three years managing international professional exchange programs for the U.S. Department of State, which taught me how to explain complex ideas to diverse audiences and meet people where they are.
My approach is collaborative and adaptive. I ask a lot of questions, figure out where the sticking points actually are, and build from there. I'm patient with students who are struggling and challenging with students who are coasting. I want you to leave our sessions not just with better grades, but with tools you can use without me.
If you're working through history or philosophy coursework, writing college essays, tackling a thesis, or trying to improve your writing at any level, reach out. I'd love to help!
