My education and training include bachelor's degrees in journalism and Spanish as well as certifications in CELTA and Spanish-English interpreting.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Spanish from Auburn University and a 40-hour Spanish/English Medical Interpreter Certificate from UGA-Gwinnett. My studies also include semesters in Buenos Aires, Argentina and San Jose, Costa Rica. I've been living in Chile since early 2017 and teaching Spanish since early 2018. In the USA, I worked for two years as a Spanish/English interpreter in medical and academic settings. I have also worked as a translator doing subtitles for TV & film, transcriptions and editing. My strong understanding of both English and Spanish mechanics combined with my experience living in Latin America allows me to teach Spanish in a way that is easier to understand for native English speakers. I've overcome the challenges of learning Spanish, and I love helping others broaden their world through language.

Ellen did a wonderful job tutoring my daughter, who was struggling in Spanish 3 this year.
