I earned an A in biochemistry and scored 131 (98th percentile) on the Bio/Biochem section of the MCAT. Beyond coursework, I spent over two years as the sole thesis student in a biochemistry research lab, studying the enzyme kinetics of G6PDH through an honors thesis that examined viscosity effects, isotope effects, and substrate binding to build a model of the enzyme's conformational behavior. This work required a deep, working command of enzyme mechanisms, reaction kinetics, and metabolic pathways well beyond textbook level, since I was generating and interpreting original data rather than studying established results. I also served as a course assistant for organic chemistry, which shares significant mechanistic overlap with biochemistry, leading group review sessions that trained me to explain complex reaction logic clearly.

I scored a perfect 132 (100th percentile) on the Chem/Phys section of the MCAT, and I completed a full year each of general chemistry and organic chemistry, including lab components each semester. Of my eight total chemistry and chemistry lab grades across those two years, seven were As, with a single A- in my first semester of general chemistry lecture. General chemistry was a challenging course, but it laid the groundwork for everything that followed, and I still find myself returning to those foundational concepts years later, which is part of why I enjoy teaching it. I served as a teaching assistant for organic chemistry, leading group review sessions where I noticed that a huge portion of the problems students ran into were not really about organic chemistry at all, but rather stemmed from shaky recall of general chemistry basics like electronegativity, acid-base equilibria, and bonding, which meant that helping someone with orgo often meant going back and shoring up those earlier fundamentals first.

I am a fluent French speaker, having spent nine years of my childhood in Geneva, Switzerland, where I was educated almost entirely in French from a young age. I went on to graduate summa cum laude from Tulane University with a degree in French, giving me a strong academic foundation in the language alongside my native fluency. I taught math and history in French to middle school students as a language aide at immersion schools, which trained me to explain concepts clearly to younger learners in a second language and gave me real classroom experience, not just conversational fluency.
