About Megan

Bio

Hi! I’m a full-time biostatistician at the NIH with a background in systems engineering and public health, and I specialize in helping students truly understand math, science, and how to apply concepts on test day, without just rote memorization.

I graduated with a 3.95 GPA in undergrad (premed/systems engineering) and a 4.0 GPA in graduate school (biostatistics/public health). I scored a 520 on the MCAT (132 Chem/Phys, 131 CARS) and a 36 on the ACT, and I’ve successfully tutored students...

I scored a 520 on the MCAT (132 Chem/Phys, 131 CARS) and a 36 on the ACT, and I’ve successfully tutored students across a wide range of subjects and levels including college-level biology, chemistry, and math courses.

I work with students from elementary school through adult learners in:
- MCAT & ACT prep
- Biology & Chemistry (General + Organic)
- Physics
- Math (Algebra through Calculus & Differential Equations)
- Statistics & Biostatistics
- Intro Computer Science

What sets me apart is my ability to make difficult concepts feel simple and intuitive. In my day-to-day work as a biostatistician at the NIH, I regularly explain complex statistical ideas to my colleagues, and I bring that same skill to every tutoring session. If something hasn’t clicked before, we’ll find a way to make it click.

I’m also especially strong at test-taking strategy and critical reading. Many students struggle with sections like MCAT CARS or ACT Reading. Not because they aren’t smart, but because they haven’t been taught how to correctly approach passages. I break these skills down into clear, repeatable strategies that build confidence and improve scores.

My students have gone from failing exams to consistently earning As and Bs by learning how to study efficiently, think critically, and approach tests with a plan.

In addition to tutoring, I’ve also mentored elementary-aged students and enjoy working with and supporting younger learners.

If you’re looking for a tutor who can build confidence, make challenging material approachable, and improve grades or test scores, I’d love to work with you!

Approved Subjects

Biostatistics

Biostatistics

As a full-time biostatistician at the National Institutes of Health, I regularly apply statistical methods in real-world research and explain statistical concepts to my non-statistical project collaborators. I help students understand concepts like probability, hypothesis testing, and regression in a practical and intuitive way, especially for those who find statistics confusing or abstract.
Chemistry

Chemistry

I have extensive experience tutoring college-level chemistry courses and a strong foundation from both coursework and MCAT performance (132 Chem/Phys). I help students build a clear understanding of core concepts like stoichiometry, equilibrium, and thermodynamics, while also improving problem-solving skills for exams.
MCAT

MCAT

I scored a 520 on the MCAT (132 Chem/Phys, 131 CARS, 127 Bio/Biochem, 130 Psych/Soc) and developed my own study strategies without formal prep courses. I specialize in both content review and test-taking strategy, helping students approach passages efficiently, avoid common traps, and improve timing. I’m especially strong in breaking down difficult sections like CARS and translating complex science into clear, testable concepts.
R

R

I use R regularly in my work as a biostatistician at the National Institutes of Health, where I apply it to real-world data analysis and research. I help students learn R for coursework, research projects, and data analysis, including data cleaning, visualization, and statistical modeling. My approach focuses on making coding intuitive and practical, especially for students who are new to programming or using R for the first time.
