I am a native Spanish speaker with over 15 years of experience teaching Spanish language and culture to professionals, government officials, military personnel, and private students. I hold a Master’s degree from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and a Law degree from the Bolivian Catholic University. My career combines high-level academic training, government experience, and extensive classroom instruction.
I have taught more than 6,500 hours of Spanish and have prepared students for the Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT) and the Foreign Service Institute (FSI) exams. I am also a certified Spanish tester with deep knowledge of the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) proficiency scale. This allows me to accurately assess a student’s level and design a clear, structured path toward measurable progress.
My teaching style is structured, practical, and student-centered. I design lessons based on each student’s goals, whether they need conversational fluency, academic Spanish, professional communication, test preparation, or cultural competence for work abroad. I use task-based and scenario-based instruction, authentic materials, current events, and real-world vocabulary. I emphasize speaking confidence, listening comprehension, grammar accuracy, and cultural understanding.
Because of my background in government and international affairs, I can also support students who need Spanish for diplomacy, public policy, law, international development, or business. I help students understand not only the language, but also the political, historical, and cultural context of Latin America and Spain.
I am patient, professional, and highly organized. I set clear objectives, provide consistent feedback, and create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable taking risks and growing. My goal is not just to teach Spanish, but to help students communicate with clarity, confidence, and cultural awareness.
