Hello, I'm Tiffany! I am a certified high school physics teacher, with experience tutoring students of all ages. This is my fourth year as a high school teacher, and I have taught almost every level of high school physics, from conceptual to IB. Before teaching high school, I worked in a K-2 elementary school as an assistant librarian, first grade paraprofessional, and kindergarten teacher. During this time, I also began tutoring students of all ages, from pre-K to high school, in subjects like reading, math (elementary math, middle school math, geometry, and algebra), science (biology, chemistry, and physics), high school history, English literature, essay writing, and executive functioning.
My educational background is in sociocultural anthropology, and I have both a master's and bachelor's degree in the field. My undergraduate minor was in twentieth century US cultural history, and my master's thesis focused on gender and healthcare in the Andean highlands. During graduate school, I had the opportunity to teach an upper-level undergraduate anthropology course, which sparked my passion for education. After working in nonprofit program management for a time, I decided to pursue teaching and became certified to teach middle school math and high school physics through a career-switcher program. I've always had a passion for physics and astronomy, which made my transition to teaching high school physics a natural fit. This diverse academic background helps me bring interdisciplinary insights to my tutoring sessions.
My goal as a tutor is to inspire students to become lifelong learners and critical thinkers, and I emphasize a student-focused approach to teaching. This mean that I meet each student where they're at, building on their existing knowledge, and equip them with the tools they need to succeed.
Feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule a session--I look forward to working together!
