Hello! I am a licensed Pre K-6 teacher with 10 years of experience teaching elementary school in the state of Virginia. I received my undergraduate degree from James Madison University in Elementary Education and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). I continued on at James Madison and received a Master's Degree in Teaching as well. While at JMU, I participated in practicums and student teaching in Pre-Kindergarten, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade and teaching English to adults.

I am most familiar with 2nd grade, but also have experience teaching 3rd, 4th and 5th graders as well. I am accustomed to working with students who are English Language Leaners (ELL) and those with IEPs and can easily differentiate lessons or activities to meet the needs of your child. Throughout my 10 years of teaching experience, I have developed a strong command of relevant subject matter, tools of inquiry and have created learning experiences and lessons that make the content relevant to students. I am an engaging teacher who integrates key subject elements into my lessons and meets learners where they are. My goal is that your child walks away from each session feeling stronger and more confident as demonstrated by measurable growth.

I am happy to tutor your child in reading, writing, phonics/spelling, math or social studies/science and am most comfortable with Pre K through 5th grade curriculum. We can also work on test taking strategies or study skills. I strive to build positive relationships with students and parents/guardians alike and look forward to helping your child learn and develop strategies that strengthen their academic goals/grades and build their confidence not only in school, but also in life!
