I am a PhD Candidate studying history, who loves learning and wants to help others love and be successful. I have degrees in History and Museum education and my passion comes from my love and desire to help others love history as well.
I was a tutor in high school and at Michigan State University where I tutored our student athletes in a variety of college courses. I was a 3rd/4th grade Social Studies teacher and 9th Grade English teacher at The Lab School of Washington in DC for 3 years before relocating to Norfolk, VA. While in Norfolk, I taught 7th grade social studies at Renaissance Academy as part of Virginia Beach Public Schools. When I moved back to DC in Winter of 2022, I became a long-term substitute teacher. I have since subbed as a teacher and done private one-on-one tutoring in the DC area.
I have experience in a variety of subjects including social studies, history, English, Reading, College Prep and essay writing. I also excel in organization and executive functioning skills from my time at The Lab School. My approach for tutoring history is based on history as understanding the significance instead of memorization. I help students to strive for organization and time management skills, as well as helping them grow as personal writers and learners.
