I began teaching Biology while completing my Masters of Science in Biology at Villanova University. I continued teaching to graduate students and medical students while completing my Doctorate in A&P at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. I began teaching Biology while completing my Masters of Science in Biology at Villanova University. I continued teaching to graduate students and medical students while completing my Doctorate in A&P at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. After finishing my Postdoctorate at Georgetown University in Neuroscience, I left academia to go into industry. After serving as Director of Research for multiple biotech start-ups, I started a consulting career which I use to stay current in the field while teaching full-time at NVCC and part-time at GMU. To me, my students are a reflection of myself; therefore, I do my best to make sure they are prepared for their future careers.

Pharmacology

Pharmacology deals with medicines that act via mechanisms of action to modulate anatomical and physiological processes. Not only did I take medical pharmacology while earning my Ph.D, I am also published in peer review articles having applied pharmacological studies/principles.
Physiology

Physiology

I love learning how the systems of the body work-even those of us that teach such topics as physiology need to stay abreast of current trends through primary literature, participating in book reviews, attending professional meetings, etc... Coupled with my love of teaching, I strive to help my students 'learn' and not memorize. The goal is to understand the basics. Why? When you do not know the answer to every question off of the top of your head, you can find a way to derive steps that can potentially lead you to the answer and more!

Paul is committed to his students. He pays attention to the student's individual needs. Paul has been able to help my daughter understand how to organize information by breaking concepts down while having the ability to aligned her instructors teaching strategies and class resources to her learning style. Paul also utilizes technology tools to help his students review class material to be prepared for class. Advanced physiology

During my session with Paul, we went over the renal system, concentrating on the nephron. His teaching style is extremely effective and has a mastery level of the content. He's able to take more complex processes and break them down to a level that's easier to understand and relevant. I definitely recommend him and will use him again.
