Hello, I am an Elementary Special Education Teacher in Fairfax County Public Schools and I specialize in helping struggling readers master decoding, fluency, and comprehension. I hold a Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership and Learning from The George Washington University and am currently teaching elementary students with learning disabilities. My experience includes working in both classroom and small-group settings, where I provide targeted reading and writing instruction aligned to student IEP goals.
In my current role, I work with elementary students who require additional support in reading, including those with dyslexia, ADHD, and other learning differences. I design and deliver structured, research-based interventions focused on phonics, decoding, fluency, and comprehension. I use programs and strategies such as explicit phonics instruction, guided reading, and progress monitoring to track growth and adjust instruction. I tailor lessons to each student’s level and learning style. My approach emphasizes building foundational skills while also helping students gain confidence and independence. I regularly communicate with parents about progress and strategies to reinforce learning at home, ensuring a consistent and supportive learning experience.
