I graduated 3 years ago from George Mason University as an Honors student with a B.S. in Forensic Science and a minor in Conservation Studies. I have 3 years of experience in a laboratory setting, and currently getting experience as a field interpreter teaching kids ages 10-14 about the Virginian watersheds.
My passion has been teaching fellow students and help them understand the beautiful world we live in via science and math. When I was a dual enrolled student at a local community college, I tutored my classmates in Chemistry. I was the youngest at age 16, while my classmates ranged from 25 and up as most of them were returning to school from whatever life had thrown at them. At GMU, I was a Teaching Assistant for a class I hadn't even taken myself, Ecology and Evolution, which I was learning alongside my students. During my last semester I was at an away program, and in those classes I assisted my classmates in understanding the R program and interpreting scientific articles as I had prior experiences with both.
My goal is to change careers into being an ESL teacher, but I am experienced in tutoring algebra and science as described above. I encourage you to send me a message to tell me what it is that you are struggling with so that I can best prepare for the subject at hand. I am currently learning how to tutor and teach on this platform, so feedback is appreciated. I believe teaching is about flexibility to meet how the student teaches, and communication must flow to know what does and does not work.
