Dr. L has more than 10 years of experience of teaching mathematics as a private tutor and has 3 years of experience of teaching university mathematics as a teaching assistant and as an instructor.
He received Ph.D. degree in applied mathematics in 2013 and has taught and tutored wide range of mathematical branches including calculus I,II,III, linear Algebra, differential equations for university students. He also has taught pre-calculus, algebra, geometry, trigonometry and elementary math for the secondary school students. Finally, he has taught motivated high school students to prepare America Mathematical Contest(AMC).
Dr.L loves to teach mathematics and share his knowledge of mathematics with his students. His teaching method is very detail oriented and focuses on challenging the students. Mathematics is a discipline which requires patience, hard working and reasoning. Mathematics will improve all these three important areas which will later help students to succeed in their careers.
His teaching philosophy is to give the students considerable degrees of freedom. There may be only one correct answer to a problem but there are many different ways to get that answer. He encourages the students to come up with their own solutions and gives them different ways to approach the problems.
Dr.L's subjects include: AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, Calculus 1,2,3, College Algebra, American Math Competition, Differential Equations, Discrete Mathematics, Geometry, Linear Algebra, Pre-Calculus, SAT Math, SAT Math Subject Test, Probability, and Trigonometry. I had hard time find out some tutoring
Person can teach multivariable subject.
I am so glad find out tutor person mr Timothy.
He has good knowledge about math and nice preparation for the class.
It is very helpful!
Timothy has been very helpful, responding to text messages even wherein I beg him for help. Our one-on-one session was great too. He was patient and explained to me everything I had a question on.
Timothy was amazing at helping me review as well as catch up for my AP Calc class. He is extremely knowledgeable and has a great and easy style of teaching which I found very helpful. I will definitely use him again and highly recommend him to others for any help in a variety of math subjects. He's probably one of the best, if not the best tutor I have ever had.
My son has difficulty in math, despite of all the effort, he has always confessed of how unprepared he was each time he had a test. After his session with Mr. L, he told me how prepared and confident he feels about his math test tomorrow! Will definitely keep Mr. L!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I taught differential equation 2 years as a teaching assistant at RPI and I am currently teaching upper level mathematical modeling class as a lecturer.
This is closely related to one of my research area combinatorial optimization. Also, I have taught America Math Competition (AMC) which requires an expert knowledge on discrete math
I have taught college level linear algebra as an adjunct lecturer. My research area, mathematical programming and polyhedral theory requires possessing an expert knowledge on this subject
