If you’re looking for the traditional markers of academic success, I have them. I graduated magna cum laude, earned a 170 on the LSAT on my first attempt, passed both the New York and California Bar Exams on my first try, and was fortunate to receive several nationally competitive academic fellowships. I’m proud of those accomplishments, but they’re not what I think makes me a good tutor.

What matters more is how I got there. I have never been someone who could simply absorb a difficult subject and move on. If I wanted to understand something, I had to take it apart into its smallest pieces, understand why each one worked, and then put it back together into a coherent whole. That became my approach not only to law and standardized tests, but to learning in general. I think it also happens to be an effective way to teach. Instead of asking students to accept that something is true, I like to figure out exactly where the confusion begins and work outward from there until the larger picture makes sense.
Part of that approach comes from growing up on the autism spectrum. Many aspects of communication and reasoning that other people seemed to learn naturally were things I had to study consciously. I read extensively, paid close attention to how people thought and communicated, and gradually built my own understanding one step at a time. Looking back, I think that experience made me a better teacher.

Whether we’re working on the LSAT, writing, reading comprehension, law, or another subject, my goal is the same. I want to understand how you think, identify the obstacles that are slowing you down, and help you build the kind of understanding that lasts after the lesson is over. My hope is that by the time we’re finished, you’ll not only know the material better, but also have a stronger way of thinking about difficult problems in the future.

Bar Exam

Bar Exam

I know what it takes to succeed on the bar exam because I've done it under demanding conditions, passing both the New York and California Bar Exams on my first attempt. My goal isn't just to teach black-letter law, but to identify conceptual problems on the level of the test, the subject and the topic that may be hindering you from grasping what's really more learning to speak a specialized coded language than an evaluation of your reasoning. I tailor my approach to each student, starting with any hurdles in approaching the exam conceptually and moving into more minute subject areas where we can iron out sticking points. I'm also well-versed in handling how stressful the exam can be, and how best to balance study with work and life. Wherever you are on your learning journey, I'm committed to helping you study more effectively, build confidence, and walk into the exam prepared. You graduated law school. You can do this, and I can help.
Law

Law

Law school rewards analytical thinking, but success also depends on learning how to apply legal principles to unfamiliar facts, write clearly under pressure, and recognize the patterns for which professors and bar examiners are looking. I passed the California and New York Bar Exams on my first attempt because I understand both the substance of the law and its application to specific facts. That same knowledge, combined with my years of practice, provides the strategies that help students succeed. My approach is to break difficult concepts into manageable pieces, identify exactly where confusion begins, and build understanding from there. Whether you're preparing for exams, working through challenging cases, improving legal writing, or getting ready for the bar, my goal is not just to help you find the right answer, but to help you understand *why* it's the right answer so you can tackle the next problem with confidence.
Personal Statements

Personal Statements

I was admitted to NYU School of Law and awarded five nationally competitive fellowships, while also serving as a national finalist for three others. Strong personal statements don't just recount accomplishments. They distinguish an applicant from hundreds of equally qualified candidates without drifting into exaggeration or cliché. Before you even sit down to write, it can be helpful to schedule a consultation with me so we can locate your best topic. The best essays find a fresh perspective on well-worn topics by uncovering the experiences, motivations, and values that make your story uniquely yours.
Writing

Writing

My personal statements have secured me entry into multiple Ivy League schools and helped me win 4 nationally competitive academic fellowships and secure a runner up position for three others. I specialize in helping students bring the best of themselves forward to show an admissions committee how and why they stand out from the crowd.
