I have held various positions in my career. I started in the hospitality industry and remained in that field for 15 years. I have also worked in the federal service, worked as a military contractor, owned my own business. Now I devote almost all my working hours to tutoring.

In addition to my working career, I have a strong love and dedication to education. I love working with students of all ages. The desire to learn has always been a part of who I am and I love seeing that in others. You should view your tutor as someone who helps you better understand the subject matter and someone that is on the sidelines routing for your academic success.

I hold my undergraduate and graduate degrees from Strayer University in Washington, DC. My undergraduate is a Bachelor of Business Administration, with a major in Tourism and Hospitality Management and a minor in Human Resource Management. My graduate degree in a Master of Science in Management with a specialization in Marketing.

I also hold a certificate from Harvard Business School in Business Essentials, a Graduate Certificate in Public Administration from Southern New Hampshire University as well as a Graduate Certificate from Pennsylvania State University in Management Consulting (Go Nittany Lions).

Please see my Bio for additional subjects I tutor in. I am an approachable tutor who really cares for my students.

Business

Business

I have a combined 35 years in my career that has ranged from the public and private sectors. I have managed staff, started my own small business, set and adhered to budgets while maintaining a strong sense of the importance of customer service, while keeping high ethical business standards. No matter how large or how small a business might be, we are living in a dynamic state for business. No business can grow or compete with their competitors while adhering to old and static business models. In my educational pursuits, I have a Bachelor of Business Administration, with a focus in Tourism and Hospitality Management. I have also completed the course "Business Essentials" From Harvard Business School. I am a strong believer that businesses often fail because they continue to innovate and offer what the customers and the market demands. I also work as a Management Consultant, looking at new ways to approach a business. This can often be something as simple as a revision of your mission statement, or a complete overhaul of your business model. As a tutor, I find it to be important to be able for students to see how their acadmemic studies can tie into stories about linking what they are studying, to real life concepts and examples. In order to be a successful person in business, I want to make sure students fully understand their course material from someone who has formal education and experience.
Career Development

Career Development

With a minor of study in HR Management and having worked in Human Resources, I am excited to help students prepare themselves for a rewarding career. I have served in a Human Resource position for both the public and private sector. I know what employers on both sides are looking for in a resume and in your career development. If you already have a job and want to move up, let me help you with goal setting, skill buidling, action planning, and exploration of career paths that will leave you satisfied.
Interview Prep

Interview Prep

While each interview might vary, employers generally ask certain questions and observe non verbal communication during the interview process. Sitting through an interview can wreak havoc on your nerves. Let me help you see the interview process from the employer and applicant side. With a minor of study in Human Resource Management, and serving in a Human Resource Managers view in both the public and private sector, let me help you to better understand what an interviewer is looking for. When I was in Human Resources, I looked for candidates who were confident in the skills they posssesed and knew how their skills and knowledge would benefit the organization. You usually get one chance to make a good impression. The first question often asked in an interview is often a soft skill/behavioral question. That sets the tone for the entire interview and often, the HR professional has already made up his/her mind by that time. Let my decades of experience in Human Resources help you. Whether the job is an intermal posting, or looking for external candidates, let me help you prepare for that interview.
Marketing

Marketing

Marketing is one of the most important aspects of running a business. Many people fail to realize that we as ordinary people market ourselves every minute of every day. Marketing is used every day, every minute of our lives. I hold a Masters of Science in Management, with a focus in Marketing. Marketing has played such an important career goal that I accepted a Director of Sales and Marketing position for a major hotel chain. Not only did their sales increase by 15% on average, but I was also able to determine who we should be focusing on marketing and advertising on with targeted marketing. For students who are studying Marketing, the acronyms and concepts might be strange to you. Whether you are pursuing Marketing as a major, or even just taking one class, it is essential for everyone to understand Marketing. Let me help you undertand the concepts and the reason behind them.
Political Science

Political Science

I absolutely love Politcal Science. Having worked in the public and the private sector, Poli Sci is interwoven in our society. I want to help you understand how laws are made, how they are passed, and what effect that our political systems has on public service and private sector gains and losses.
