Italy is not just a place, it is a layered conversation between history, art, architecture, and the people who created them.
I was born and educated in Italy, where I earned a Laurea Cum Laude in Political Science and Government. I come from a family of professors and architects, and growing up in that environment shaped how I see Italian culture: as a living dialogue between ideas, cities, and artistic expression.
For more than 30 years I worked with the United States government as a program manager, developing complex programs and communicating difficult concepts clearly to diverse audiences. Teaching and mentoring have always been a natural extension of that work. My approach focuses on helping students understand not just what happened in Italy’s past, but why it happened and how it shaped the country’s art, cities, and cultural identity.
In my lessons we explore Italy as an interconnected story. A Renaissance painting is not just an artwork; it reflects politics, religion, and the ambitions of powerful families. A piazza or cathedral is not just architecture; it reveals how communities organized their social and civic life. By learning to “read” art, buildings, and urban spaces, students gain a deeper understanding of Italian civilization.
I work with students, travelers, lifelong learners, and anyone curious about Italy. Lessons can focus on specific topics—such as the Renaissance, the rise of the Italian city-states, or modern Italian culture—or provide a broader cultural framework for understanding the country.
My goal is to help students see Italy with new eyes: to recognize the stories behind its monuments, understand the ideas that shaped its history, and appreciate the rich cultural traditions that continue to influence the world today.
