Hi, I’m Louis, a dedicated and experienced math and economics tutor with a degree in Mathematical Economics from Wake Forest University. My passion for tutoring began while helping friends with math, economics, and statistics assignments, which led to formal tutoring roles through the Honors Math and Economics Programs at Wake. I’ve had the pleasure of working with students of all levels, from middle schoolers to college students, in a wide range of subjects, including pre algebra, calculus, algebra, statistical methods, probability, and economic theory. As an experienced tutor, I’m committed to helping students build a strong foundation in math and economics.

What sets me apart as a tutor is my personalized approach to learning. I don’t just rely on a student’s material – I often create custom practice problems to reinforce concepts in a way that’s specifically tailored to each student’s needs. Whether it’s calculus, algebra, or statistics, I explain complex topics clearly, ensuring students gain a deep understanding and feel confident in their abilities. I write down all my explanations during tutoring sessions, so students have a reference they can take home and revisit to further reinforce their knowledge, prepare for exams, and improve test scores.

I make sure each lesson is interactive, flexible, and focused on building confidence and improving academic performance. I personalize lessons to fit the student’s pace and learning style, and I specialize in helping students prepare for math exams, statistics tests, and standardized assessments. I also work closely with parents to ensure we’re aligned on goals and progress, making the tutoring experience as effective as possible. Whether you need help with homework or want to improve your grades, I’m here to guide you.

I’m excited to work with you and help you achieve your academic goals in mathematics, statistics, and economics. Let’s tackle these challenges together and set you up for long-term success!

Career Development

Career Development

I served as an intern at the Wake Forest University Office of Personal and Career Development with a specialty of editing resumes. This experience led to help over 100 students edit their resume in order to ensure their resume accurately reflected all their experience and skills in a well-articulated manner. In addition, I piloted a pair program where I worked individually with 20 students to tailor their resume to the field of work they were attempting to break into after graduation.
Praxis

Praxis

I am a qualified Praxis exam tutor, having accumulated over 50 hours of experience in tutoring Praxis materials on a volunteer basis. During that time, I successfully helped three teachers in obtaining their certification, demonstrating both my expertise in the content and my ability to effectively guide and support individuals through the Praxis exam process. My extensive hands-on experience has honed my skills in developing targeted instruction strategies to ensure all teachers that I tutor are well prepared for their exam.
Precalculus

Precalculus

I have worked over 50 hours on tutoring pre calculus in the past with friends and relatives. I have helped to strengthen ability in solving problems related to conic sections, parametric equations, vectors, matrices, and many more precalculus related topics. This includes a tutoring strategy that focuses on doing problems together at first and then letting the student lead me through the problem to show their understanding of the material. Overall, this strategy has led to lots of success in precalculus classes!

Good tutor, easily understood explanations

Louis helped me understand the formulas, such as Bayes theory, that I struggled with on my last exam. I feel more prepared for the next exam and the overall class moving forward.
