My goal as a young student was to become a teacher. As fate would have it, I became an early-adopter for using computers in the graphic arts and printing industry, and ended up teaching in the industry rather than in the classroom. From 1997 to 2007 I worked for a software development company, traveling extensively teaching automation techniques and programming for the newspaper industry. From there I have worked on specific projects such as catalog and book production. As the information age shifted from print to web and mobile devices, I added cross-publishing and User Experience (UX) with emphasis on ePub.
I have been invited to speak at seminars, participate as a leader in user work groups, and conduct side-sessions for user conferences. I have written articles for magazines, published books on the subject of using scripts to automate applications, and often contribute to user groups on the web.
As I look back at over 30 years of experience I know my greatest sense of accomplishment is in helping students hone their skills and go on to fulfill their dreams. My greatest challenge is in staying at the forefront of a technology that is changing almost daily. I appreciate being honored as an Adobe Community Professional (ACP). As such I keep up to date on their software and completed their "Train the Trainer" course in 2018.

Shirley is an amazing tutor. I started looking for a tutor for my web development class. I couldn't have found a better tutor. Her lessons are well planned out and she always has exercises that go well with the topic you are learning. She helps even you when you're struggling and is always available to email, she responds very promptly. I highly recommend her to anyone.Hunter, 2 lessons with Shirley
Didn’t want to pull my hair out at the end of the lesson
Shirley has truly been an answer to prayer. Having paid two previous tutors for help with Illustrator, I had given up hope of ever learning what I needed of the program. Shirley was my last attempt and I am beyond thrilled with how our first lesson went. She was patient and incredibly knowledgeable. I was skeptical of how well an online lesson would go but the screen sharing ended up forcing me to learn alongside Shirley as I had to work on things myself with her directions rather than two people trying to sit side by side sharing one screen. She was fabulous at emailing me after our lesson with some tips and other information to help me. I’ve already scheduled multiple follow up lessons and am excited for where this will take me.Ashley, 2 lessons with Shirley

I was so stressed out with Photoshop before i signed up. Shirley taught me how to edit my artwork on Photoshop in less than 5 minutes and i tried for a week and still didnt get it. I took notes so i could practice. I really enjoyed talking to her as well. Very positive experience.. She was so patient and if you love to learn from someone who doesnt speed through the instructions and speaks clearly than Shirley is that tutor your looking for.Kisha, 1 lesson with Shirley

Expert and great teacher
She taught me how to Navigate the Effects Controls, how to use different tools, how to edit more efficiently, how to mute on/off audio and control sound, import a still picture, how to navigate Graphics, change out Colors, sizes. I still need more practice with fades and the Opacity tool. She is just what I needed for this class. I had 2 other tutors previously and they did not work outKimberly , 6 lessons with Shirley
