I'm Griffin! I graduated with honors and a bachelors degree in exercise science. In college, I discovered that my professor had a real impact on how well I learned. I excelled in classes where the professor was skilled at simplifying complex material, making it interesting and enjoyable (as much as possible), and when they were available and happy to provide any extra instruction outside of class. This type of professor created a learning environment that was conducive to my growth as a student. As a tutor I do my best to emulate the characteristics that I admired in my most influential professors. I strive to be engaging, I strive to simplify as much as possible, and I strive to adapt to a learning pace that is comfortable for my student. I thrive off of helping students have those "aha" moments, and seeing them begin to enjoy learning.
During college I gained 3 years of experience tutoring elementary aged students in math, reading, and spelling. I also tutored my fellow college students in general chemistry 1 and 2, as well as physics 1 and 2. A majority of my experience tutoring has been one on one with a student, but I also have some experience teaching 2-3 students together. My teaching method includes introducing the topic in an interesting and engaging way, followed by diving into the material. I always allow ample time for the student to practice on their own with any necessary guidance. If needed I can adjust this method in order to accommodate different subjects or the needs of a specific student.
My job is to help students learn, so I always welcome any resources or suggestions that students or parents can provide. I'm very easy to reach and am reliable communicating with students or parents. Please reach out if you have any further questions about me, or to schedule a lesson.
