I'm Carson I graduated salutatorian and am currently a Junior studying chemistry at Brigham Young University, and this coming May I apply to medical school. As I have taken classes on a variety of subjects, I have come to find that the only thing between loving and succeeding in a class and hating it while failing is having a teacher that is invested in your learning and that can teach in the way that you best learn. In my tutoring, I work with my students to find how they best learn and provide them with the tools that they need to succeed. I understand well the psychology behind learning and pass this information along to students to help them make changes to their study habits that will lead to conceptual mastery of material and improved life long learning habits.
I have over two years of tutoring experience in math. I have always had a passion for math and I like to think that I bring this passion with me to my tutoring. With enough practice, I can help any student succeed in math. As I have studied for the MCAT, I have had the opportunity to become very familiar with most science topics that would be required at the undergraduate level or below. I have found that by helping my students come to an understanding of chemistry, physics, or any science in broader context, I can help them increase the number of semantic connections that tie back to any one subject and therefore can help them master even the most difficult subject or principle.
I understand that struggling with a subject can be one of the most frustrating experiences. Consequently, I strive to provide timely responses to my students and try to be available even on short notice. With a little help I believe that anyone can succeed and excel in even the most difficult classes. I am excited for the opportunity to help you master whatever subject is giving you trouble.
