Hello, I'm Alec Stevens, the Director of StevensED LLC, where we specialize in offering comprehensive instruction in Math, English, Science, and Piano. My passion for education is rooted in a rich academic background and diverse teaching experiences, allowing me to connect with students of varying ages and skill levels.

I am a Bachelor of Science with Honors (H.B.S.) in Biological Chemistry and a Bachelor of Music (BMUS) in Piano, progressing toward the field of Medicine. My academic journey has been both extensive and diverse, and I am the recipient of an International Baccalaureate Diploma. I have experience in teaching or tutoring a variety of academic disciplines at the University and high school levels, including various nationally standardized curricula such as AP® and IB® Courses. Currently, I serve as an ambassador to the College of Science at the University of Utah and as President of the Student Advisory Committee of the School of Music at the University of Utah.

With respect to STEM-related subjects, I have a comprehensive background in both academia and practical teaching. I have developed versatile and effective tutoring strategies across different subjects from my years of experience as a private tutor and employed instructor. My approach to teaching STEM-related fields is grounded in both theoretical knowledge and practical application. Having excelled in advanced mathematics courses and university-level studies, I offer expertise in calculus, statistics, and algebra.

With respect to music, I am a member of the National Music Teachers Association. I have had the opportunity to perform at various events, and I have experience teaching through a University. My teaching spans from beginners to advanced students. My methods include personalized lesson plans focusing on technical proficiency and expressive performance, integration of music theory to enhance understanding and musicianship, and performance opportunities to build confidence as a performer.

Common Core

Common Core

I have been teaching the Common Core curriculum and tutoring students under the prescribed methods for quite a while. As one of the headteachers at Mathnasium, we perform diagnostic tests that determine a student's shortcomings and adhere to the common core standards to teach them the methods for solving certain problems.
Elementary (K-6th)

Elementary (K-6th)

I've been teaching younger students since I started my teaching experience. I've been able to guide them through approved mathematical comprehension tasks and improve their ability to understand mathematical concepts. As a teacher at Mathnasium, I have been able to observe and track younger student's growth.
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

Alec is an instructor at the Mathnasium of Roscoe. Alec is a student at the University of Utah. He has gone through Honors Mathematics I, II, and III, and has continued into AP® Calculus BC, AP® Statistics and Probability, and is working toward his International Baccalaureate Diploma with Mathematical Analysis at a Higher Level. Alec has also been fortunate enough to attend Grand Canyon University studying mathematics under a grant from the Arizona Math Partnership. Throughout his school career, he has maintained an impeccable grade point average. Alec began to realize his love for math in 7th grade when he found that mathematics requires creativity to find mostly objective answers.
French

French

I have been immersed in French study for years. I went to a dual-emersion school where I learned French beginning in first grade. I have continued to study French and am working toward a minor in French language and culture from the University of Utah.
Music Theory

Music Theory

My background in University-level Music Theory not only signifies a comprehensive understanding but also reflects a commitment to excellence in this scholarly pursuit. Throughout my academic journey, I've immersed myself in the complexities of musical structures, harmony, and composition, honing a nuanced perspective that I bring to each lesson. In our sessions, you'll benefit from the wealth of knowledge accumulated during my university studies, gaining insights that extend beyond conventional teaching approaches. I am dedicated to demystifying the complexities of music theory, providing you with a solid foundation while fostering a genuine appreciation for the theoretical underpinnings of music.
Piano

Piano

Start your distinctive musical journey with a holistic approach that cultivates a theory-based understanding of piano and music, nurturing a depth of musical comprehension that goes beyond the surface. By integrating theoretical concepts into each lesson, I aim to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the music they play. This approach not only enhances technical proficiency but also fosters a deep appreciation for the artistry behind each composition. In addition to theory, I place a significant focus on developing a student's aural capabilities. Training the ear is a crucial element in honing musical skills, and I strive to sharpen this sense in my students. By cultivating a keen ear for nuances in tone, dynamics, and expression, students not only become more proficient players but also well-rounded musicians capable of capturing the essence of a piece. As a collegiate teacher and a proud member of the Music Teachers National Association, I am committed to bringing inventive and varied approaches to my students. Drawing upon my extensive training and professional affiliations, I tailor lessons to suit each student's unique learning style and aspirations. By staying abreast of the latest pedagogical techniques and incorporating innovative methods, I ensure that lessons are dynamic, engaging, and, most importantly, effective in nurturing and developing each student's musical talents.
