Welcome! I'm a Yale grad with a deep love of learning, a passion for teaching, and a great respect for individual differences. Whether you love studying and learning or can't quite claim that level of devotion, you've come to the right place.

I've taught several GRE prep courses, including a math refresher course, at the University of Washington. I've also developed many strategies to help students improve their performance on the SAT and ACT. These tests do require specific math and verbal knowledge, but just as importantly, they also require problem-solving strategies, critical thinking skills, and logic. I focus on both the content and the strategy, using a selection of the best prep books and online material.

As a university-level English composition instructor, I graded more than 25 papers each week, marking each grammatical, syntactical, and organizational error. I work with students to be able to spot their own errors and to write so as not to be misunderstood.

I have also worked with many non-native speakers of English--including Chinese, Korean, Russian, and Iranian students--to improve their grammar, reading, and speaking skills.

My goal is for you to become an independent learner and confident test-taker. Whatever your needs, I'm here to help!

I charge $85/hour. I require 24 hours' notice for lesson cancellations.

I look forward to hearing from you to help you achieve the success you're seeking!

I've worked with many teenagers and adults to understand and apply algebra 1 principles. Some of my students just need a refresher; others need to work on fundamentals. I like to work problems forwards and backwards to make sure the student understands not only how to set up certain types of problems, but how to think them through and how to check their answers.

I took 10 years of formal piano lessons including music theory classes in high school and college. I consistently earned top marks in adjudicated festivals and events. From 2010-2015, I owned my own studio, where I taught 20+ piano lessons a week. I've also given several solo recitals; performed in a number of ensembles, including concerto with orchestra; accompanied dozens of vocalists, instrumentalists, and choirs; and participated in improvisational music events.

Great tutor for the GRE!

She really explains things well and goes into the "why" behind the math. Focuses on problem areas and has tons of materials and explanations. Would highly recommend.

Helpful with GRE prep!

Jennifer knew how to help me figure out the QR questions I didn't understand. She also had helpful information about the test and how scoring works as well as tips to succeed with the writing sections. I would request her help again.

Review for Jennifer F.

Jennifer was an amazing tutor. I am dyslexic and before I found her for GRE tutoring I must have gone through 5 different tutors that were not helpful or supportive. Most did not understand my learning disability but Jennifer was amazing! She was patient with me and knew how to help me understand each concept. After studying with her I received a much higher GRE score then I thought it would. I did better then I was doing on the practice test! She is an amazing tutor and I could not have done it with out her. Jennifer, you are great and thank you so much!!

Super helpful, goal-oriented GRE prep

Jennifer provided me with a GRE study plan, homework, and extra practice to heal me reach my GRE goals. She is very thorough in the explanations she provides, and is able to explain concepts in multiple ways until you really get it. I wish I’d found her months ago! Jennifer has played a huge part in my ability to feel prepared and competent to take the GRE and get the score I need to be competitive in doctoral program admissions.

Patient and Encouraging Tutor

Jennifer worked with me to review basic math concepts in new ways. In addition to her deep knowledge, her patience and positive attitude were essential in helping me overcome mental blocks and went a long way to build confidence in my ability.

Smart, Encouraging Tutor

Jennifer continues to amaze me. She is so patient with me and teaches me so much in such a short amount of time. She reassures me constantly, and allows me to apply the skills she teaches. She sends ample homework for me to work on between sessions and genuinely makes sure I understand what she reviews. I wish I would have found her sooner!

Extremely Knowledgeable + Easy to Understand

Jennifer is organized and has oodles of information to give to her students. She helped me understand the WHY's to the subject, since that's my favorite questions to ask. I learned a lot in a short amount of time, and look forward to our next sessions. Currently studying for the GRE, and math is the bane of my existence--I feel confident I will do well on the test after working with Jennifer.

Patient, Knowledgeable and Dedicated Tutor

Jennifer is hands down THE BEST. She was my tutor for the GRE and I can definitely say I am much more confident as a result of her lessons. Jennifer is patient and caring, and was always dedicated to me as a student. She helped me with test taking strategies and helped me improve my knowledge on topics that I was struggling with. My favorite thing about Jennifer is how intuitive she is. I would be working on problems and she would pick up on areas where I could improve or that I might be struggling with from simply observing me. This was great for helping me through some of the things I "didn’t know I didn’t know." Jennifer is also SO funny. I always looked forward to her lessons and was never intimidated by her. Every time I felt stressed or worried about the upcoming test, Jennifer was there to hype me up and remind me that I was putting in the work and doing well, so I had nothing to be scared about. If you are looking for a GRE tutor that will help you improve, cares about your success and is always looking for ways to better help you, Jennifer is the ONLY option. I can’t speak highly enough of her! She’s incredible!
