I'm Heidi! I have always loved math and have found so much joy from helping others enjoy (well sometimes just not hate it) as well. I earned a Bachelors in Math Education where I got all A's in my math classes (not so much my other classes, but had to live life you know!). I absolutely love helping you piece together the puzzle that math can be by either making it practical (I mean it's not always because who really needs 50 watermelons?), simple breakdown of steps, or even just helping you master a shortcut. I know that not everyone wants to be a mathematician and I know that some math you really won't ever use again, but for whatever stage you're in, I'm here to help you master the math that is required. And, if you want to, I can help you love and be great at math!

My tutoring philosophy is rooted in patience, encouragement, and clarity. I believe that every student can succeed in math with the right guidance, so I tailor my approach to each learner’s style—whether they thrive on step-by-step problem-solving, visual explanations, or real-world applications.

I've taught in classrooms (virtual and in-person) and also tutored 1-on-1 in person and virtual for over 20 years. I'm currently only accepting virtual students, and thrive with the quick access to tools the internet provides. I've been tutoring solely online for more than 5 years and find it to be very effective for high school and college aged students.

I also emphasize growth mindset strategies, encouraging students to see mistakes as part of learning. Many of my students have told me that my supportive approach not only helped them improve their math grades, but also gave them the confidence to tackle new challenges independently.
