Bio

I earned my Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering back in May 2015. I made Dean’s List during the Fall 2013 and Fall 2014 semesters. I was also the telecommunications chairperson for my school’s chapter of a particular black engineering organization. Right now, I currently work as a systems engineer for a defense contractor.

I have tutored for several companies for almost 10 years. The subjects that I have tutored include pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, and linear algebra. Most of my tutoring sessions have been online and my students range from elementary school to adult age. My sessions normally range from 15 minutes to 1 hour. Most of my sessions have been one-on-one sessions, although I have also tutored groups of 3 to 5 students on numerous occasions as well. Currently, I am most available to tutor during the evenings and I have open availability every other Friday, every Saturday, and every Sunday.

My teaching philosophy involves figuring out the weaknesses of my students and finding different ways to address those weaknesses. I believe in active participation, so whenever a student needs help with a problem, I will have that student work on the problem and then I will explain to the student where he went wrong when solving the problem. The best way to build rapport with a student is to communicate with him well and be readily available for future sessions. I believe in tailoring my lesson plans to my student’s learning style and also creating a comfortable environment for my students. It is crucial that I tailor my lesson plans because every student learns differently and it is important that I ensure clear comprehension of different subjects.
