Hi! I’m Christian, an astrophysics PhD student at the University of Utah with a passion for helping students excel in physics and math. My teaching philosophy centers on patience, adaptability, and collaboration. I know that every student learns differently and I am committed to creating a customized learning approach for every individual. Whether you are a visual learner or prefer hands on problem solving, my ultimate goal is to make learning an enjoyable and rewarding experience for you. I am able to tutor math and physics at any high school (AP, SAT, ACT) or undergraduate level.

My academic journey started with a bachelor’s degree in physics and I now collaborate with scientists at institutions like MIT. My work involves problem solving, teamwork, and using concrete evidence to uncover new insights about the universe. These collaborations have taught me the importance of working with others and communicating complex ideas in ways that are clear and engaging, skills that I bring into every tutoring session.

In addition to my research, I’ve gained valuable teaching experience as a Teaching Assistant (TA) for undergraduate physics courses over the past two years. I’ve worked with students one-on-one and in group settings, helping them tackle challenging concepts such as electricity and magnetism, mechanics, and advanced math. My time as a TA has taught me how to connect with students at all levels, adapt to different learning styles, and break down tough topics into manageable steps.

Outside the classroom, I have also mentored middle school students through a program called Science With U. Through this program I have guided students through the scientific process as they designed science fair projects and presented their work. Whether I’m working with younger students or college students, I believe that building confidence is just as important as mastering the material.

Please reach out to me and we can work together to overcome obstacles and achieve academic success, one step at a time!

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I can teach Algebra at the middle school, high school, and college level. I help my students build confidence in performing Algebra by constructing a strong foundation of mathematical knowledge. If you want to understand why we do something a certain way or where something comes from, I can help you understand that. My Masters Degree in Physics has given me years of practical mathematical experience through research and teaching across age groups.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

Astronomy

Astronomy

I am getting my PhD in Astrophysics with a Bachelor's and Master's degree in physics with an astronomy emphasis. I conduct astronomy research full time and have created and presented planetarium shows that break down complex concepts to the public. I combine my teaching experience with my astronomy research and experience to craft creative and engaging tutoring sessions.
Calculus

Calculus

I have tutored in Calculus for 2+ years and have a plethora of practical experience with algebra. I have had to use it in my physics and math classes, as well as my research. I have walked students through the applied Calculus necessary in physics problems as a part of my TA duties for 2+ years.
Data Analysis

Data Analysis

I have worked in data analysis for the past 4 years. My research focuses on the processing and analyzation of astronomical data to learn about the physics of distance objects in space. I also use what I learn to better understand physics in general, making the objects I look at a kind of laboratory to test our understanding of advanced physics.
Physics

Physics

I have a masters degree in Physics and am currently working towards my PhD in physics. I have taught undergraduate physics as a part of my TA duties and have tutored students from high school through college in physics. I conduct astrophysics research, which includes performing and understanding physics of complex systems.
Thermodynamics

Thermodynamics

I am getting my PhD in physics with a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Physics. As a part of both degrees I completed extensive classes and assignments related to thermodynamics. My thesis and research centers around the thermodynamics of distant plasmas in space.

Great Tutor

Christian was beyond amazing! He explained everything so clearly and made sure I truly understood the material. His patience and ability to break down complex concepts made studying so much easier. Thanks to him, I feel so much more confident going into my exam. Highly recommend!

Really worth it

Was hesitant to try a private tutor, but seeing how much preparation and dedication is put into each session, it’s a night and day experience when compared to peer tutoring.
