I am an Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering at Southern Utah University with a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering and a master’s degree focused on structural and earthquake engineering. I also teach engineering courses online through Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Since 2020, I have taught undergraduate students at all levels in civil, mechanical, and general engineering programs.

My teaching experience includes Statics, Dynamics, Strength of Materials, Materials Science, Structural Engineering, Soil and Foundation Engineering, Transportation and Highway Engineering, and Python Programming. I have also taught or supported Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Finite Element Analysis, Structural Health Monitoring, Computer Vision, and AI for Predictive Maintenance. I led the development of an AI and Machine Learning Certificate and three related engineering courses at Southern Utah University. I can also assist with Calculus, Differential Equations, Physics, Statistics and Probability, Data Analysis, Data Science, and Machine Learning, especially when applied to engineering.

I begin by identifying where a student is struggling. I explain the concept in plain language, connect it to a physical or real-world example, and work through problems step by step. I use diagrams, free-body diagrams, visual explanations, and short practice problems to build understanding and confidence. Rather than simply giving answers, I help students develop a reliable problem-solving process, check their work, and understand the assumptions behind each equation. I adapt each session to the student’s course, learning style, and goals, whether the student is preparing for an exam, debugging Python code, analyzing data, or working independently on an engineering assignment or project.

Approved Subjects

Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I am an Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering with a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering and more than six years of university teaching experience. I regularly teach mathematics-intensive engineering courses and help students apply algebra to equations, graphs, formulas, and real-world problems. I can assist with Algebra 2 topics including functions, systems of equations, polynomials, inequalities, complex numbers, radicals, exponentials, and logarithms. I explain concepts clearly, demonstrate solutions step by step, and provide guided practice to help students develop confidence and solve problems independently.
Calculus

Calculus

I am an Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering with a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering and more than six years of university teaching experience. I regularly teach calculus-based engineering courses in which students apply derivatives and integrals to motion, forces, material behavior, transportation, and structural problems. I can assist with limits, differentiation, integration, related rates, optimization, curve analysis, areas, volumes, and other Calculus I and II topics. I explain concepts visually, work through problems step by step, and connect calculus to practical applications so students understand both the mathematics and how to use it.
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

I'm an engineering professor at Southern Utah University with a PhD in Civil/Structural Engineering and a strong background in math. As a parent of an elementary school student, I also enjoy finding creative ways to make math interesting and approachable. I can help with addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and word problems using simple explanations and everyday examples. My approach is patient and encouraging, giving students time to ask questions and work through problems at their own pace.
Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical Engineering

I am an engineering professor with a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering and more than six years of university teaching experience. I have taught mechanical engineering courses including Materials Science for Engineers, Introduction to AI and Machine Learning for Engineers, Computer Vision, and AI for Predictive Maintenance. My experience also includes engineering mechanics, material behavior, programming, laboratory applications, and data-driven engineering analysis. I help students understand difficult concepts through clear explanations, step-by-step problem solving, and practical engineering examples.
Python

Python

I am an Assistant Professor of Engineering with a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering and more than six years of university teaching experience. I teach Programming for Engineers using Python and redesigned the course around practical coding labs, problem-solving, and engineering applications. I also use Python extensively in artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision, data analysis, and predictive-maintenance courses and projects. I help students understand Python fundamentals, debug code step by step, and develop clear solutions they can apply independently.
Statistics

Statistics

I am an Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering with a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering and more than six years of university teaching experience. I regularly apply and teach statistical concepts in engineering, transportation, data analysis, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and predictive-maintenance applications. I can assist students with descriptive statistics, probability, normal distributions, confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, correlation, regression, and interpreting statistical results. I explain each concept clearly, work through problems step by step, and use practical examples to help students understand both the calculations and their meaning.
