My name is Tate, and I am very excited to work with you! I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Southern Utah University, where I also played football for 4 years and earned the honor of being a captain for the team, and representing the team as the only punter to ever do so at the Big Sky Media days. I originally went to school to become a dentist, but I realized after 3 years of working towards this goal that I really wanted to be a teacher and a coach. I switched some things up and decided to start some education courses along with my biology degree courses, and it was the greatest decision I ever made. After my time at SUU, I started taking masters-level courses from Weber State University, in secondary education, in order to get my teaching license. Soon after that, I landed my first teaching job at a junior high school where I taught 7th Grade Integrated Science and Earth Science. I am now in my 7th year of teaching, and have taught 7th Grade Science, 6th Grade Science, Creative Coding, and Biology over the course of those years. I have taught at brick and mortar schools, and for online school as well, so I have a lot of experience working with students in-person and online. I coached football for a couple of years as well and worked with a lot of students in the athletic field to help them navigate the balance between the classroom and sports.
I have tutored many students in my time as a teacher in-person, and have extensive tutoring experience with students online to help them achieve their goals. Being a former athlete and coach, I understand the rigors and grind of trying to be the best you can be on the field/court as well as be the best student you can be in the classroom, it is not easy, so I can give students a unique perspective on how to navigate and balance that lifestyle and make studying simpler.
I want to be a resource for students that is a benefit to them academically and athletically, and I look forward to working with you!
