My academic background combines professional writing, journalism, research, language instruction, and the humanities, giving me a strong foundation for teaching academic and creative writing.

I have taught writing since 2009, working with university students, adult learners, community groups, developing writers, and working writers. From 2009 through 2023, I taught writing workshops in educational and community settings, and in 2023 I expanded my work into Adult English Language Learner and academic English instruction. My experience includes group instruction and one on one support. I work with adult learners, university students, and graduate students, adapting instruction to their level, goals, and writing needs.

My teaching approach is practical and supportive. I focus on helping students understand how writing works. I teach academic writing, academic English, grammar, sentence structure, organization, clarity, academic tone, essays, research papers, and graduate level writing. I also teach fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. I explain what is working and what needs attention so students can strengthen their writing skills.
