My approach to tutoring is defined by the belief that the most complex subjects—from the nuances of Spanish to the intricacies of finance—become manageable when connected to real-world application. I began my teaching journey at the University of Utah while completing my degree in Spanish. As an ESL tutor, I worked with students of all ages to build their confidence. This role taught me that every learner has a unique "click" moment, and my job is to find the specific analogy that triggers it. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all lessons; instead, I focus on the student’s individual goals, whether they are trying to ace an honors exam or gain fluency for travel.
After my undergraduate studies, I earned a Master of Science in Financial Economics at Utah State University, where I shifted my focus to helping students master high-level finance. Today, I work as an investment analyst for a large pension fund and am a CFA Level 2 candidate. This means when I tutor finance or economics, I am not just teaching from a textbook—I am showing students how these concepts function in the real world of institutional investing. I have found that students stay much more engaged when they see how a mathematical formula impacts a stock price or a retirement portfolio. My goal is to strip away the intimidation factor of finance and replace it with a logical framework that students can use to excel.
Whether you are a parent looking for someone to help your student navigate a finance degree, or a learner looking to sharpen your Spanish, I provide a supportive, professional environment. I have experience working one-on-one with a wide range of ages, from teenagers to working professionals. I understand the pressure of high-stakes exams and the frustration of hitting a wall with difficult concepts. I pride myself on being a patient, persistent coach committed to helping students not only improve their grades but also build the foundational confidence they need to tackle the next challenge on their own.
