Bio

I've been helping students succeed in math since 2010.
I started tutoring in high school and very quickly fell in love with teaching.
I love seeing the excitement build in my students as they not only begin to understand, but also enjoy a subject that they used to dislike. I love witnessing that "Aha!" moment when a student comprehends something that previously made no sense to them for weeks or months (or sometimes even years).

It did not take long for me to decide to pursue a college degree in Math Education.
Unfortunately, by the end of my degree, I realized that teaching in the classroom wasn't for me. I didn't realize how much time I would spend doing tasks that didn't involve actually teaching! (grading papers, meetings, classroom management, etc.)
I much prefer tutoring, where I can spend more of my time actually doing what I love.
So I decided to become a full-time tutor. That's good news for you, because that makes me one of the most flexible tutors you'll find--
I can accommodate your busy schedule.

My students really appreciate that, and they have nothing but the best things to say about me and my teaching style.

So how about it; will you decide to give me a try?
(Send me a message so we can get started!)

Excellent AP Calculus AB Tutor—Real Understanding and Results

Mr. Yvan has made a wonderful difference in my daughter’s AP Calculus AB progress. He truly teaches her, helping her understand the material rather than simply work through answers. He is knowledgeable, patient, and thorough, and his explanations are clear and easy to follow. Since starting with him, my daughter has improved from a B+ to an A+. We are very happy with her progress and highly recommend Mr. Yvan!

Very knowledgeable and flexible schedule

Yvan has helped me in Pre-Calculus, Calculus I and now Calculus II. He is teaching me more about the material in calc II then the actual professor. He creates great analogies, and examples to help explain topics in a way that can easily be understood. If you find your self struggling and you need help, I one hundred percent recommend Yvan.

Precalculus - Thoroughly breaking down the problem and making sure my son understands in between. We really enjoyed the session. Looking forward to scheduling again. Thank you!

Knowledgeable and patient

. He took 3 weeks of a class and explained it in 2 hrs. As new parent to a newborn while managing school he took a lot of stress from me. I appreciate his efforts immensely.

First tutor ever and first time with Yvan who was great!

Yvan got right into it with my son and really used the hour to tutor and teach. He checked on knowledge/understanding at the start so he know where he had to dig in and what my son already knew. My son was resistant to a tutor but now realizes this is basically a one on one session with a teacher or a study buddy to help ensure he knows the material.

This guy is a math genius!

He's helping my boys in their respective classes of AP Calc AB and Honors Geometry. I am impressed that he can pick up at any point in a lesson with tips and strategies, and his patient demeanor has helped their confidence. Also, he is extremely flexible. One of my sons needed help, and Yvan jumped on a late-night call to walk him through the challenging problems, and my son aced that quiz. Both my boys have probably had 10+ sessions with him by now, and we book as needed. Highly recommend.
