I'm a social science Ph.D., former professor, author and editor, and former senior manager in the technology startup world. I have hundreds of classroom hours teaching at private universities and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, both in person and online.

I can take you beyond what's in the book and help you to make sense of—and more deeply understand—the social sciences (sociology, anthropology, social thought), writing skills (essays, research papers, theses and dissertations), and the IT industry (business, Unix/Linux, web development).

I have a Ph.D. in sociology and did graduate work at the University of Chicago and The New School for Social Research. I taught sociology and related courses at NYU, CUNY, The New School, St. John's University, Iona College, and Utah Valley University.

I'm a published author of seven books and have inside cover editorial credits on dozens more for national imprints. I've held editorial positions at Pearson, Macmillan, ABC-CLIO, The Pragmatic Programmers, was the managing editor of the International Journal of Politics, Culture, and Society, and a research associate at the Annenberg Center for Global Communication Studies.

I'm here especially to provide advanced high school students and college undergraduates with plain-spoken, in-depth, expert help in topics that are often difficult to master due to their open-endedness. You'll often hear that there are no right or wrong answers, then wonder why you are struggling and often find yourself marked down. I can help.
