For a year after returning from my mission, I was an in-field mentor for the MTC. This meant holding one-on-one zoom sessions with missionaries to continue their training at the beginning of their mission. Rather than focusing on memorizing, I helped people learn skills and become proficient through practice. I want to take this same mindset into tutoring, where the focus is on becoming a good student who knows their subjects, not just someone with the ability to memorize.
I have been a teaching assistant for molecular biology and introductory college physics. As a teaching assistant, I helped students with homework, reviews for tests, answering questions, and teaching skills necessary to succeed in the class. I found it most enjoyable when I got to spend time with individual students and help them understand their coursework. Helping students comprehend their studies is my motivation and goal as a tutor.
