I graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Microbiology, where I completed extensive coursework in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Anatomy. Throughout my academic career, I developed a strong foundation in the sciences and consistently performed well in challenging upper-division courses. This training helped me not only master the material, but also learn how to break down complex scientific and mathematical concepts into clear, logical steps that are easier for students to understand.
In addition to my academic background, I have tutoring experience working with both high school and college students in Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Physics. I have worked in one-on-one tutoring sessions as well as small group and classroom-style settings, which has helped me adapt my teaching style to different learning needs. I have supported students ranging from those building foundational understanding in high school science to college students preparing for exams in more advanced coursework.
My tutoring approach is centered on clarity, patience, and active learning. I focus on breaking down difficult topics into simple, step-by-step explanations and then guiding students through practice problems to reinforce understanding. I also encourage students to ask questions freely so we can identify and address gaps in their understanding in real time. Depending on the student’s needs, I incorporate structured lesson planning while remaining flexible so each session is tailored to what the student is currently struggling with.
My goal as a tutor is not only to help students improve their grades, but to help them build confidence and independence in their learning. I want students to leave each session with a stronger understanding of the material and a clear strategy for approaching similar problems on their own in the future.
