My name is Spencer, and I recently graduated with a degree in Biomedical Science and have been admitted to medical school. During my undergraduate studies I developed a strong foundation in chemistry and biology, with particular strength in organic chemistry. I earned top marks in organic chemistry and spent significant time helping other students understand difficult concepts. Through that experience I discovered that I genuinely enjoy teaching and helping others build confidence in challenging science courses.
While in college, I worked closely with students in the chemistry department as a tutor and later served as a volunteer lab coordinator. In these roles I helped students in one-on-one and small group settings work through topics in general chemistry, organic chemistry, and biochemistry. Many of the students I worked with were preparing for exams or struggling with specific concepts such as reaction mechanisms, stereochemistry, and acid-base chemistry. My goal was always to break complex material into simpler steps so students could understand the logic behind the subject rather than just memorizing reactions.
My tutoring style focuses on clear explanations, step-by-step reasoning, and developing strong problem-solving skills. I believe organic chemistry becomes much easier once students learn to recognize patterns and understand the “why” behind reactions. I also scored in the 91st percentile on the MCAT Chem/Phys section and the 90th percentile on CARS, so I’m happy to help students preparing for the MCAT science sections as well. I enjoy working with both high school and college students and aim to create a supportive environment where questions are encouraged and difficult topics become manageable.
