I am a recent graduate of Brigham Young University with a Bachelor’s degree in Russian and ACTFL Advanced-High certification. I am also a member of the National Slavic Honor Society, reflecting both academic excellence and long-term commitment to Russian studies. I bring three years of teaching experience across multiple instructional settings. At BYU, I worked as both a Russian instructor and tutor for First-Year and Second-Year Russian courses, and helped students build a strong grammatical foundation while developing real-world communicative skills. In addition, I taught high school students through an independent study program, adapting college-level material to be accessible, motivating, and age-appropriate. My teaching experience spans classroom instruction, one-on-one tutoring, and guided independent learning, allowing me to tailor lessons to each student’s goals, from mastering the basics and improving conversation skills, to preparing for exams and/or gaining confidence using Russian in practical situations. I emphasize a communicative, student-centered approach, blending clear explanations of grammar with active use of the language through speaking, listening, and authentic materials. I have lived in Russia and Eastern Europe, giving me firsthand cultural and linguistic insight that enriches my teaching. I aim to create a supportive, structured, and engaging learning environment that helps students progress efficiently and confidently in their language-learning journey.
