Hello, I'm Olivia! I recently graduated with a degree in Elementary Education, so I am certified to teach students from kindergarten through 6th grade. I have taught in whole-class, small-group, and one-on-one settings in 1st- and 4th-grade classrooms. Additionally, I completed my student teaching in a 5th-grade classroom. Throughout these experiences, I worked with students with a wide variety of abilities, personalities, and backgrounds. As such, I have become proficient at planning and implementing lessons that are tailored to fit individual needs.

What I love most about tutoring is seeing a student's confidence grow. I believe students are far more capable than they are often given credit for. As such, I aim to help students grow the ability within themselves to find solutions and think critically. This means that while I will initially explain and give examples of concepts, my goal is for students to reach the point where they can explain and give examples of the concept back to me. Additionally, I believe the best way to learn is by doing. This means that while I will offer support (as needed), the student will always be the one “holding the pencil.” In doing these things, I help students succeed by improving their confidence, strengthening their problem-solving skills, and increasing their independence.

I am aware that each student learns differently, and I am committed to finding methods that work best for your student. As such, I am open to any resources or suggestions that parents or students provide. Feel free to reach out with any questions or to schedule a session!
