Hi! I’m Owen—a mechanical engineering student at BYU who’s always been fueled by curiosity. My love for French began early, when my great-grandfather—also a mechanical engineer—taught me French nursery rhymes as a child. Hi! I’m Owen—a mechanical engineering student at BYU who’s always been fueled by curiosity. My love for French began early, when my great-grandfather—also a mechanical engineer—taught me French nursery rhymes as a child. He also spent years building a working sailboat in his backyard, and I spent countless hours watching and helping him, asking questions and learning how things fit together. Those moments sparked a deep love for both language and engineering. I believe great teachers don’t just explain—they inspire. My goal is to help students discover that same excitement in subjects like French, calculus, and physics.

Those early interests helped me thrive academically. I graduated high school as valedictorian with a 36 STEM ACT composite score and earned 5s on multiple AP exams, including AP Calculus AB & BC, AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism, and AP French Language and Culture. I was honored with department awards in both French and drama during my school’s senior honors ceremony.

Beyond academics, I have extensive experience teaching students of all ages. I’ve tutored my four younger siblings for years—most recently helping my sister stay on track in algebra during the pandemic. I also spent several summers teaching swim lessons to kids ages 3–12 and served as a year-round TA in my AP French class, where I helped peers with grammar, pronunciation, and confidence in conversation.

I specialize in algebra, calculus, physics, and French, and I tailor every lesson to the student’s needs. If you're preparing for an AP exam, we’ll work through FRQs and build a focused strategy. If you’re here to grow your understanding, I offer engaging lessons that combine discussion, lecture, and practice. For language learners, I incorporate speaking sessions alongside grammar instruction to build fluency. Whether you need some homework help, want to ace a test, get ahead in class, or just explore subjects more deeply, I’m here to support you every step of the way.

Approved Subjects

Calculus

Calculus

I earned As in both AP Calculus AB and BC and scored 5s on their respective exams. I also helped my friends earn passing scores on the exams and have experience simplifying concepts so that others actually understand them. I am currently enrolled in Math 302, multi-variable calculus for engineers, at BYU.
French

French

I have been studying French for more than four years and recently scored a 5 on the AP French Language and Culture exam. With many students in my AP French class struggling with conversational skills, my AP French teacher asked me to be a TA and practice speaking and grammar with them consistently to help them prepare for the exam. I learned how to break conceptually challenging grammatical rules down so they were easy to understand and help my classmates have fun speaking the language. I have 12 college French credits and am currently enrolled in French 202 at BYU.
Voice (Music)

Voice (Music)

I’m a classical and musical theater singer with extensive performance experience. I’ve had lead roles in several high school musicals, including Shrek in Shrek: the Musical and Willard in Footloose: the Musical, and I currently sing in the BYU Men’s Chorus while taking private classical voice lessons. I specialize in helping students improve technique, build confidence, and prepare for auditions or performances. Singing is fun!!
