Hello! I’m Dave, and I’m excited to share a bit about my background and approach as a tutor. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a Master's degree in Special Education, and have dedicated 28 years to teaching reading remediation and special education, focusing on mild to moderate disabilities. I’m honored to have been recognized by Utah’s KSL Teacher Feature program for my commitment to going above and beyond for my students.
In my previous role as a special education teacher, I created an inclusive and supportive environment for students coming from their regular classrooms to improve their reading skills. Even when managing groups of up to 14 students, I prioritized individualized lesson plans and collaborated closely with my aides to ensure every student received the attention they needed each day. Creating a welcoming and safe atmosphere was always my top priority.
Over the past five months as a tutor, I’ve found immense joy in helping my students progress. It’s incredibly rewarding to witness the strides each child makes, and I’m passionate about identifying the unique needs of each learner. I strive to make our sessions engaging and enjoyable because I believe that every child has the potential to master reading. I also value input from parents and welcome any resources or suggestions you may have.
