I received a PhD in political science from University of California - Davis in 2017, with an emphasis in international relations and research methods / statistics. To help pay my way through graduate school while raising a family, I served as an associate instructor three times and as a teaching assistant 20 times. I became really good at data management and analysis in Stata through repeated service as a research assistant to multiple professors, and I worked as a private stats tutor.
After graduating, I became a professional data scientist, learned how to code in R and Python, and continued to use statistics in my work. On my own time, I continued to write and publish my own original political science research in peer-reviewed journals (including Journal of Peace Research, Conflict Management and Peace Science, and Armed Forces and Society) and share my work at professional conferences. I picked up other skills on the job as well, including certain aspects of machine learning, design of experiments, and other research methods.
My own coursework, my years of teaching experience, and my eclectic research background qualifies me to tutor a wide variety of topics in political science, including American politics, comparative politics, international relations, security studies, peace and conflict studies, and quantitative research methods.
