Hi! I’m Brian, a full-time mechanical engineer at a pipe manufacturing plant. I earned my Mechanical Engineering degree from BYU, and I’m a Certified SolidWorks Professional. I’ve passed the FE Mechanical exam and am currently preparing for the PE license.

I have over 5 years of tutoring experience, working with students from age 5 to college level in math, science, and engineering. I spent 3 years as a tutor at Mathnasium, helping students master everything from elementary math to Calculus and Differential Equations. I’ve also served as a TA in both high school and college, supporting students in math, physics, and engineering coursework.

Subjects I Tutor:
- Math: Elementary to Differential Equations
- Physics and Engineering Mechanics
- SolidWorks / Fusion 360
- MATLAB / Python / Arduino
- Engineering coursework & projects (college or professional level)

I love helping students and professionals gain confidence in tough subjects and can tailor lessons to fit any learning style. If you have questions or a specific project in mind, feel free to reach out!

ACT Math

ACT Math

I have worked for 3 years helping prospective college students study for the math portion of the ACT, both at Mathnasium and privately. I received a 30 on the overall ACT. As a mechanical engineer, I used algebra, trigonometry, and statistics on a very frequent basis. I am in my senior year of college, so I come with the benefit of having the ACT math principles freshly in my head.
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I have worked for 3 years helping Algebra 1 students both at Mathnasium and privately. As a mechanical engineer, I use Algebra on a very frequent basis in my current coursework and past jobs. I am in my senior year of college, so I come with the benefit of having algebra principles freshly in my head.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I have worked for 3 years helping Algebra 2 students both at Mathnasium and privately. As a mechanical engineer, I use Algebra on a very frequent basis in my current coursework and past jobs. I am in my senior year of college, so I come with the benefit of having algebra principles freshly in my head.
Calculus

Calculus

I scored a 5 out of 5 on the AP calculus BC exam my sophomore year of high school. I was a TA for Calculus my junior and senior year. I have tutored calculus at Mathnasium and privately for over 4 years of combined calculus experience. Calculus is arguably my favorite math subject all -time and I feel that every student should have the opportunity to learn it and see how all of their former math classes come together and apply to the real world.
Differential Equations

Differential Equations

I scored a 5 out of 5 on the AP calculus BC exam my sophomore year of high school, which included differential equations. I was a TA for Calculus my junior and senior year, and I got an A in Calculus 3 and Differential equations my Junior year of High School, and subsequently my freshman year of college. I love teaching differential equations and calculus 3 since they are two of my favorite subjects all-time.
General Computer

General Computer

▪ Oversaw troubleshooting of technical issues for over 400 student and faculty members ▪ Re-imaged, inventoried and updated over 100 Microsoft laptop and desktop equipment ▪ Contributed to project management of the team by using Jira, Confluence, and Excel. I have an intuitive understanding of computer issues and how they should be solved.
Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical Engineering

I am currently working as a mechanical engineer at a manufacturing company helping to update and redesign mechanical equipment. I have a bachelor's in mechanical engineering from BYU and I have taken courses in Fluid Dynamics, Thermodynamics, Electrical Engineering, Statics, Dynamics, Machine Design, CAD, Mechanics of Materials, Sensors, Materials Science, Programming, Manufacturing Processes, and Heat Transfer. I also passed the FE mechanical exam and am certified in Solidworks. I was an engineering intern at a Semiconductor company working on PCB and Arduino applications for automotive companies. I have several years experience teaching engineering as a TA and as a tutor and I love what I do.
Precalculus

Precalculus

I have worked for 3 years helping Precalculus students both at Mathnasium and privately prepare for the daunting Calculus courses (although they are not as hard as you think!). As a mechanical engineer, I use Calculus on a very frequent basis in my current coursework and past jobs. I am in my senior year of college, so I come with the benefit of having Calculus (and consequently Precalculus) principles freshly in my head. I should note, I love calculus, and I want you to love it as much as I do, and the only way to do that is to have a solid foundation before going in. I will make sure you are confident so that you can ace your calculus courses.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I have worked for 3 years helping prospective college students study for the math portion of the SAT, both at Mathnasium and privately. I received a 30 on the overall ACT, which is very similar to the SAT. As a mechanical engineer, I used algebra, trigonometry, and statistics on a very frequent basis. I am in my senior year of college, so I come with the benefit of having the SAT math principles freshly in my head.
Solidworks

Solidworks

I am a CSWA Solidworks associate, meaning that I am qualified in the Solidworks system. I have also taken a course a Solidworks course in college. I have designed robotic parts and a single piston engine assembly in solidworks, to name a few. I love Solidworks and CAD in general and love sharing my passion to others who want to build things as well.
Trigonometry

Trigonometry

I have worked for 3 years helping Trigonometry students both at Mathnasium and privately. As a mechanical engineer, I use trigonometry on a very frequent basis in my current coursework and past jobs. I am in my senior year of college, so I come with the benefit of having Trigonometry principles freshly in my head.

Fantastic tutor

Brian has been exceptional in both lessons we have scheduled. My son is becoming far more competent in the subject matter and feeling more confident. It is a great relief to find someone who can help at this high a level of competency. Thanks again Brian!
