When I approach SAT/ACT tutoring, I know that test prep isn't simply about knowing the material but also understanding how questions are set up. During sessions, we will go over not only important content on the test but also show you efficient ways to approach each question type and avoiding common pitfalls that cause you to lose easy points.
For general tutoring, my goal is for students to truly understand the material rather than just memorize information. I have seen how simple memorization makes it more difficult for students to build on existing knowledge later in their academic careers. That's why I focus on the "why" behind each concept. I also have classroom experience. As a volunteer, I taught 10+ students science principles through interactive activities, which showed me that students learn best when they're engaged with the subject material. Therefore, my sessions are highly customized to the student's own goals.
