Experienced and Effective Reading, Writing & ESL Tutor

I have been tutoring and teaching reading effectively for over 25 years. I have also taught reading and English to ESL (English as a Second Language) students in both a classroom setting and as a private tutor for about 15 years. I moved to Utah from Boise, Idaho where I had my own tutoring business specializing in reading instruction. I also taught at the College of Western Idaho, a middle school where I developed a tutoring program for students with special needs, and various private schools in the Boise area. I have extensive experience working with both children and adults. I have hundreds of success stories and am passionate about empowering students through literacy.

I use the Metra Structured Tutoring model which has been proven to be effective in teaching reading. It is a phonics based program that combines phonics with whole language, as well as comprehension and fluency. I also incorporate writing into my lesson plans. My teaching methods for teaching reading are tried and true. I am passionate about helping my students build up their confidence, succeed in learning to read, learning to read well, and develop a love for reading.

Currently, I am also working as a reading curriculum consultant and developing reading curriculum for a local private school. I also present at conferences and seminars for teachers and parents on effective reading instruction.

I especially love working one on one and creating individualized programs. I love seeing my students succeed and develop a love of reading.
