After much counseling, I settled on a major in English Literature with a minor in Psychology. I graduated Cum Laude from Sam Houston State University in December of 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. I then earned my teaching license through an alternative program from the University of Houston. I taught 6th grade Reading and Language Arts in the prestigious Klein district, in Klein, TX, for two years before meeting my current husband.
I love to see people's faces when I tell them that when I got married I got a husband, three kids, and a dog. We are a blended family of now six children: his, mine, and ours. This took a lot of patience, perseverance, and love, but we did it. I homeschooled my children for 12 yrs. Each child went back to school for High School and did amazingly well. The two I have at home now are 12 and 15. They started public school two years ago. My 15 yr old is on track to graduate with a 4.0 average from Davis High School. My 12 yr old is transitioning into JR High beautifully.
I have experience working with all types of learners: kinesthetic, visual, audio, and tactile. I also have a wide range of experience in different subject matters. I specialize in reading fluency and comprehension, improving writing skills, and analyzing literature. I am also proficient or above in Math, up to Geometry, as well as Science, up to grade 8. I would love to help your student become more comfortable not only with content matter but also study skills, test taking skills, and organizational skills: including time management.
