My lifelong passion of Math/Science includes a desire to share my ability/interest with others. My goal is to make Science Technology Engineering Math (STEM) subjects interesting and understandable, so lives of those learning are enhanced. Have a knack for connecting with learners, with ability to identify how a person learns, where they are struggling, and can determine creative ways of working with each unique learner to gain success. I hold current Michigan/Utah Professional Teaching Certificate/License in Math4 (up to Calculus), Physics, Chemistry, have 7 years classroom teaching experience, over 20 years of experience teaching/tutoring. In addition to undergraduate/graduate education coursework, my Engineering BS/MS degrees with experience give me insight into how these subjects are used in the real world. In several engineering jobs, I also served as a technical instructor/mentor/coach/presenter. Experienced 28 years as a swim, lifeguard, water aerobics instructor. Tutored hundreds of students, preschool through college level, privately, in classrooms, and at Sylvan. Included Algebra, Advanced Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Physical Science, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering Statics, Engineering Heat Transfer, Math/Science Test Prep, Elementary/Middle School Math, Pre-Algebra, and Study Skills equipping learners for successful course completion, graduation, and life. For example, worked with a failing high school senior for one month daily empowering them to learn a full semester of Algebra 2 and graduate on time. Empowered several high school students to confident mastery after Covid-19 impacts. Working with an exceptionally sharp 2nd grader for over two years where I have brought taken him to 8th grade math level. I am eager to use my perceptive/understanding/personality along with my deep/strong math/science capability to help you reach goals. Awesome tutor

Christina was very patient with me. whenever I asked for clarification on anything she explained it to me in a way I could understand. I will definitely be using her in the future!

Lexie, 1 lesson with Christina

Kind, patient, knowledgable.

My daughter's first session with Christina was excellent. We were pleased to find a tutor qualified to tutor both Physics and Precalculus, but even more delighted to see how kind, supportive, encouraging, and safe she was. My daughter opened up to her right away about her struggles and challenges with these subjects. Christina really made her feel better about herself and her abilities and that is a huge step in helping her overcome her challenges to learn the subjects. We will continue to work with her throughout my daughter's time in these two courses.

Outstanding Tutor

Christina chose a familiar object of Ethaniel’s family life, chicken coops, and used it to craft a unique activity which will require organizational skills and creative planning to complete. Very motivational activity for such a creative student!

Outstanding Tutor

Christina took the time today to discuss the emotional and academic challenges our Great Nephew is facing which are road blocks to his success. She has such a deep-seated awareness of the importance of children’s social-emotional needs which must be met to give students the secure foundation they require to develop as an individual and productive member of society. Christina is amazing.

Amazing tutor for kids who don't like math!

Tina has been helping my 8th grader with Algebra for a little over a month now. Math is my daughter's least favorite subject and even though she had been working hard all summer to catch up, she was still struggling. In the short time she's met with Tina, my daughter has gone from failing her first quiz to getting a 93% on her test. Tina is able to explain problems in a relatable way so my daughter can understand why math is important instead of thinking she'll never use these skills. Tina is also great at communication and even offers to be available if my daughter needs help with her homework outside of their regular hour tutoring per week. Tina is very flexible and the agenda for items to review during their tutoring session is almost always driven by my daughter. I can also tell my daughter enjoys working with Tina because their normal sessions are at 10 am Saturday mornings and I have never had to argue with her about waking up and joining a session! Having my daughter do better in math has been a huge relief and Tina has definitely helped her get to where she is now.
