I spent the last four years teaching middle school and highschool math. In my classrooms I focused on breaking out of the lecture mold too many students find themselves in. I believe in breaking down problems in a way that every student can see the hidden details and find the patterns that lead to figuring out workable solutions.
Before being a teacher, I was at home with my kids, and prior to that I served in the US Air Force. During my active duty time, I'd often talk with my co-workers about how their own children we're learning math. It was then that I realized most students needed a different approach from the norm. They needed teachers to show them big picture ideas, and how to problem solve in a way that is relatable and real. For to my previous engineering and Air Force experience, I know the answer to 'when an I ever going to use this?' I'm excited to show students the world through the lens of mathematics!
I work tirelessly to find whatever methods I need to help students find math success because I know it opens doors to achieving your potential! Learning algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, and even statistics doesn't have to feel hopeless or like a waste of time.
