About Madison

Bio

As a freshman at Salt Lake Community College majoring in education, I’m passionate about helping young students learn. I graduated high school in 2025 as valedictorian of my honors class and was recognized by the National Society of High School Scholars. I excelled in math, English, and writing, often helping classmates, which inspired my teaching career. This natural approach excites me for one-on-one elementary tutoring.

Though without paid experience, I volunteered in a high school tutoring class at a local elementary school, aiding third-graders with homework. I worked with 8-9 year olds, explaining mistakes, simplifying problems, and using fun examples—like story-based math or creative writing prompts. I also help my 12-year-old brother, focusing on tailored explanations and breakthroughs. My style stresses patience, encouragement, and confidence-building.
I love seeing “aha” moments, like when students smiled after understanding concepts in my volunteering. I take pride in guiding kids to success with personalized plans. Using games for math or stories for English, I aim to make learning fun and build strong foundations.

Common Core

Common Core

As valedictorian of my 2025 graduating class, I completed a full sequence of honors math and English courses aligned with Common Core standards, followed by AP Calculus BC and AP English Literature, giving me deep familiarity with the progression of skills the standards expect from kindergarten through sixth grade. In my high school elementary tutoring class, I spent a semester working directly with third-grade students on Common Core-aligned math (fractions, multiplication, word problems) and ELA (reading comprehension, foundational writing skills, and informative/explanatory texts) using their daily homework and classroom materials. I also regularly support my younger brother with his Common Core curriculum, breaking down standards-based problems in a clear, patient way. Currently pursuing my education degree at Salt Lake Community College, I’m passionate about helping elementary students master Common Core goals through engaging, step-by-step instruction tailored to each child’s needs.
Elementary (K-6th)

Elementary (K-6th)

I graduated as valedictorian after completing a rigorous honors curriculum that included multiple honors math and English classes, AP Calculus BC, and AP English Literature. Through my high school elementary tutoring course, I spent a full semester volunteering in a third-grade classroom, helping students ages 8–9 with math, reading, writing, and homework across the K-6 curriculum. I also regularly tutor my younger brother and have always excelled at making foundational concepts clear and fun for elementary-aged learners. As an education major at Salt Lake Community College, I am passionate about building strong academic skills and confidence in young students.
