I have a Bachelor's in English Lit, a Master's in education, and a Master's in Fine Arts for writing. I have been teaching since 2007, first at a public high school and then at a regional university. I have worked with individuals between 14 and 50 years old, of diverse backgrounds, religions, traditions, gender and sexual identities, and familiarity with the English language. If English is your favorite subject and you want to understand things even deeper, or if English makes no sense to you and you want to feel less lost, I have nearly two decades of experience helping learners just like you.

I love helping people who want to read a book/text understand it better, regardless of whether it is fiction, poetry, or academic texts. It is very common for someone to read one kind of writing well and struggle with another. I have supported students learning novels, plays, academic articles and texts, and poetry. We can develop techniques and tools to help you no matter where you are starting from.

I don't think writing is some elusive, magical thing that people either have or they don't. It is a skill that can be learned, can be taught, and I want to help you develop it. From brainstorming to pre-writing to drafting to editing, I love walking through the whole writing process or jumping in to help wherever you may feel stuck. Whether you need help tightening up your thoughts or taking what you have created and expanding it, I’m eager to support you with any type of writing so the most articulate version of you is clearly understood.

There is no reason for you to feel lost with reading or writing, and I'm dedicated to helping you move from where you are to where you need or want to be.
