As a mom of 3 children, 2 of whom have special needs, I understand the unique challenges that these students face both academically and socially. I also understand the stresses on the parents of these students, chances are I have been faced with similar. My teaching philosophy for these students if first and foremost, patience and flexibility; what works for one student may not be ideal for another, even those with a similar diagnosis. In these situations, I prefer to start by establishing a routine from which to build organizational skills and confidence in the students own abilities.
For traditional students, I can also provide targeted instruction in specific subjects or topics within a given subject.
My undergraduate degree consists of a core of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology, with a triple minor in Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. In addition I have expanded my education with multiple Microbiology, Genetics, Mammalogy, Ornithology, Psychology, Humanities, Literature and Writing.
While the core of my formal education is centered around the sciences, I have extensive experience in multiple subjects.
