Howdy! I'm Samantha P., and I have a Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in mathematics from Baylor University in Waco, TX. During that degree I held two teaching fellowships--one in Introduction to Engineering and one in Dynamics--in which I held weekly office hours where students could come with any questions, hosted exam reviews, graded assignments, and even substituted for classes. I have tutored since the 11th grade and continued through and after college, teaching mostly physical science and mathematics from Algebraic Physics to Calculus to Dynamic Systems. In addition to hitting the books, I've got real hands-on experience with engineering problems and on on-the-fly mathematical thinking, both of which help me communicate tough concepts in a relatable, kinetic fashion that's easy to understand.
I believe all students are capable of success, and my greatest honor has been showing my students how to achieve it. My own success story starts with struggle: I hopped on YouTube and tried all the learning strategies I could. I found what worked for me and learned how to create my own learning strategies as needed. Good news! There are endless ways to learn, and I can help you find what works for your mind. I have helped failing students become straight-A students with these strategies, even if they didn't work for me.
Sessions with me will begin with a relatable introduction to that day's material, followed by a direct lesson tailored to the student. Sending questions a day before our session gives me time to: one, tailor the response to the students learning style, and two, incorporate that struggle into lesson plans, which maximizes your time with me. I also strongly emphasize developing a tool box of adaptable learning strategies, as well as the ability to create new ones independently.
I'm so happy you're here and I'm excited to work with you! Everyone can succeed with the right tools, and you're in the right place.
