During my time at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, I obtained a bachelor's degree in Spanish and Latin American Studies. I learned the language through immersion through my travels and university studies in South America.
After graduation, I taught English in Brazil for one year at the university level as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant, a cultural and academic exchange program through the US Department of State.
Once I returned, I went to Arkansas Tech University where I obtained a master's in English and English as a Second Language.
Since then, I have taught English and Spanish for five years at a college prep school, with most of this experience ranging between grades 7 to 12. I have taught 7th grade Language Arts and Spanish I, II, III and IV. I also have taught English Composition I and II, a course for which students receive college credit. On occasion, I have taught ACT prep.
I also have served as proofreader for my wife's scholarly articles, one of which has been published in the British Medical Journal. (She did the hard research and deserves the credit; I just like making writing concise and streamlined!)
Nothing brings me more satisfaction than working one on one with students who want to learn.
