Hi! I’m Travis. I’m finishing my master’s in molecular biology at the University of Houston–Clear Lake, where I study how proteins interact with signaling pathways in the human body. I also have a bachelor’s in biology from the University of Texas at Austin, with a focus on ecology, evolution, and animal behavior, so I can help with a wide range of biology topics, from introductory courses to more advanced material.
I’m currently a Teaching Assistant for a college Genetics Lab, where I work with students one-on-one and in groups. I guide them through lab techniques like PCR, gel electrophoresis, and blue-white screening, while also helping them really understand the concepts behind what they’re doing. Over time, I’ve learned how to break down tricky topics in a way that makes sense for different learning styles. Most of the students I work with are undergraduates, but the material often overlaps with high school biology too.
When I tutor, I focus on making challenging topics easier to grasp and helping students feel confident in their understanding. I can help with homework, assignments, or exam prep, but I also try to make sure students get the bigger picture so they can apply what they’ve learned on their own
